We were waiting for the annual wine festival in the village of Areni in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia for twelve long months, imagining how we would get drunk to the level when the reality turns upside down. But Areni Wine Festival 2013 wasn’t all that grandiose as I was expecting. There was fewer people, less contestants, less fun. Well, but not for those who were here for the first time, of course. Whether it was because of the fact that the President of Armenia did not attend this year’s festival, or there was lack of organization, I don’t know. Only one thing was the same – the wine. And Armenian wine producing companies did their best to satisfy even the most picky taste.
